But what happens after the run? To ensure your RC desert truck stays fast, durable, and reliable for years to come, a proper post-run maintenance routine is essential. Don't let dirt and neglect slow you down. Here is the ultimate guide to keeping your Zigzag Toy RC car running like new.

1. The Post-Run Clean Up: Don't Let Dirt Settle

The most important step in RC maintenance is cleaning your truck immediately after a messy run. Dried mud and embedded dust can ruin bearings, strip gears, and overheat your motor.

• Brush It Off: Use a soft-bristled paintbrush or an old toothbrush to gently sweep away loose dirt and debris from the chassis, suspension arms, and shock towers.
• Air Power: An air compressor or canned air is your best friend. Blast away dust from hard-to-reach areas, especially around the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) cooling fan and the motor heatsink.
• Avoid the Hose: While Zigzag Toy M-Series trucks feature water-resistant electronics, blasting your truck with a high-pressure hose will force water into the bearings and metal drivetrain, causing rust. Stick to damp microfiber cloths for wiping down the plastics.

2. Drivetrain & Bearing Maintenance

If you are driving the M23 MAZEK or M33 MOJARCO, you have a heavy-duty full metal drivetrain. While these are incredibly tough, metal-on-metal friction requires lubrication.

Every few runs, check your exposed gears for small pebbles or debris. Listen to your truck while it rolls; a grinding or clicking noise usually means dirt has entered the drivetrain. Use a light silicone oil to lubricate the wheel bearings and center driveshaft joints, ensuring they spin freely without resistance.

3. LiPo Battery Care: Safety First

Whether you are using a 2S LiPo for the M14 or a massive 6S pack for the M33, battery health dictates your truck's performance and top speed.

• Never Store Fully Charged: If you aren't going to run your truck for a few days, put your battery on a "Storage Charge" using your balance charger. Storing LiPo batteries fully charged or fully depleted can cause them to swell and lose capacity.
• Inspect the Connectors: Always check your battery wires and connectors for exposed metal or fraying.
• Cool Down: Never charge a battery immediately after running it. Let it cool down to room temperature first.

4. Inspecting Shocks and Tires

The suspension and tires take the most physical abuse during jumps and cornering.

Check Your Shocks: Push down on the front and rear of your truck. It should spring back up smoothly without bouncing excessively. If the truck sags or the shocks look oily on the outside, it might be time to refill the shock oil or replace a worn O-ring.

Tire Maintenance: The sheer torque of the M13 and M23 can actually tear the tires right off the rims! Regularly check the bead (where the rubber meets the plastic wheel) to ensure the factory glue is still holding strong. If you see a gap, apply a small drop of specialized RC tire glue to reseal it.
